Bourn again as Cambridge Country Club!

Played on the course at Bourn where the Fitz Open was played last September, the club has rebranded as Cambridge Country Club. We took advantage of the vouchers given to us after last year, when the Open was played on heavily sanded greens. Unfortunately, the selected date did not work for a number of local regulars, so we opened it to the wider Fitz group and finished with 17 players.

On the longest day of the year, the weather was perfect, the course was in good condition and we were warmly welcomed to the new building (opened just after our Open) where we enjoyed bacon rolls before our golf and a good meal at the end.

The best individual score on the day was 39 points by Jim Sleigh, and he also picked up one of the nearest the pin prizes, the other two won by Ian Goldsmith and Alan Wood. The team prize was won by Gavin Dolling, Graham May and Dave Castell.

All agreed it was a most enjoyable Fitz event, and although the course is not exceptional, it was good to play it when the greens were not covered in sand!
